en sevdiğim metallica albümü. hatta daha da ötesi en sevdiğim albümlerden biri. james hetfield' in ilk albüme göre oturmuş ama bundan sonraki albümlere kıyasla hala toy olan sesi, saldırgan ritmleri ve belli temalar etrafından toplanmış sözleri ile thrash metalin güzel örneklerinden biri. fade to black, fight fire with fire, creeping death ve albüme adını veren ride the lightning öne çıkan parçalardı. albümün yapımcısı ise flemming rasmussen' di ki kendisi daha sonra master of puppets ve and justice for all gibi bana göre en baba 2 metallica albümünün daha yapımcılığını üstlendi. her ne kadar o iki albümü baba diye tanımlasam da bu albümün yeri bende ayrıdır. dediğim gibi en sevdiğim metallica albümü budur. -
grubun en iyi albümlerinden birisidir. 30 sene sonra bile aynı lezzeti verir.
