her ne kadar hallelujah tarzı bir şarkı olsa da, ki umrumda da değil, çılgınlar gibi ayaklarımı yere basa basa, kafamı duvara vura vura terler içinde eşlik edesim gelen şarkı. -
nina simone'nin 1965 tarihli pastel blues albümünün mükemmel kapanış şarkısı. fakat şarkının güftesi ve beftesi simone'ye ait değildir, şarkı halihazırda pek çok başka isim tarafından (les baxter, the weavers vs.) yorumlanmış, afro amerikalıların geleneksel şarkısı olmuştur o zamana kadar.
simone'nin yorumunda (doğal olarak) jazz ezgileri ağır bassa da şarkı esasında bir nevi ilahi mi diyeyim öyle bir şey. bu bakımdan atıyorum jehan babur'un sordum sarı çiçeğe'ye blues cover yapması gibi bir durum var ortada. böyle düşününce işler karışıyor tabi ona bakarsan kadın "kaya senin zorun ne ya la" filan diyor diye de şey edebiliriz iyice boku çıkar işin.
sözlerin aslı "kıyamet günü hesaplaşması" gibi dinsel motiflere dayansa da kendi yorumum, şarkı, her şey yolunda giderken bencil ve vurdumduymaz bir insan olan adamın/kadının başına açtığı belalardan sonra kendisiyle hesaplaşmasını, tutunacak bir dal aramasını anlatır.
